Renters Insurance
Renters insurance is mainly about your belongings, your liability and extra living costs after a covered loss.

Personal property
Coverage can help after fire, theft or other named or open perils listed in the form. An inventory helps you choose a limit. High-value jewelry or bikes may need extra scheduling.
Liability
Liability coverage can apply if you are legally responsible for a guest’s injury or for damage to someone else’s property. It is not a substitute for renter’s insurance required by a lease if the lease specifies minimum limits — read the lease and the policy together.
Additional living expenses
If a covered loss prevents you from staying in the rental, additional living expenses coverage may help with reasonable extra costs such as a hotel.
