Rebuild cost, not land value.

Results will appear here after you calculate.

Assumptions

  • Replacement cost is treated as the dwelling limit. Land value is not included.
  • Additional living expenses are shown as 20% of dwelling for illustration only.
  • State rates are educational placeholders, not catastrophe models or insurer loss costs.
  • Flood, earthquake, wind-pool and surcharge programs are omitted.

Dwelling coverage

Dwelling coverage is the amount available to repair or rebuild the house after a covered loss. Reconstruction cost can differ from market value.

Personal property

Personal property coverage applies to belongings, often with sub-limits for jewelry or cash. The amount you enter here is used as an illustrative personal-property limit.

Liability

Liability coverage can help if you are legally responsible for certain injuries or property damage. It does not replace an umbrella policy discussion or auto liability.

Additional living expenses

If a covered loss makes the home uninhabitable, this coverage may help with reasonable extra living costs. The 20% figure is a teaching default, not a policy promise.

Deductibles

A higher deductible can lower an illustrated premium and increase what you pay after a property claim. Some states and coastal areas use percentage deductibles that this form does not capture.

Frequently asked questions

Should I insure the purchase price?

Usually you start from rebuild cost. Purchase price includes land and market conditions that rebuilding does not.
